Delicate petals dance and sway on long stems – a touch of magic in the garden

 

Cosmos are one of my favourite cottage garden blooms. Filling the garden with swaying delicate blooms. Harvest bunches for a vase or enjoy them in your garden. These seeds are a mix of the open pollinated varieties in my garden this past year – Apricotta, Cupcake Blush, Cupcake Mix, Tall Sensations and Fizzy White –  so blooms will be a mix of these varieties and their traits.

Description

Seeds:  approx 100 open pollinated cosmos seeds
Sow: direct or in punnets in early Spring and plant out as weather begins to warm. Pinch out at approx 20-30cm height to stimulate more flower stems.
Harvest: Cut blooms with long stems deep into plant to encourage more blooms with long stems. The more you harvest the blooms, the more you will get through the season.
Seed-saving: Allow flower to mature on plant and drop petals. As seed head matures, seeds spread and create a pincushion effect. Harvest seeds when they are firm and in this pincushion shape on the seed head.

Please keep in mind I am a home gardener and while I have been saving and sowing my own seeds myself for years, they will sometimes not grow exactly as planned. Germination rates may vary, but I am being generous with the amount of seeds in each packet to account for this.
